Personal Care Attendant

Job description

Properly assist Better Living Homes and Services clients with personal care tasks as authorized on their Department of Health and Senior Services care plan. Ensure the continuity, consistency and quality of care provided meets the guidelines as set for by Better Living Homes and Services, The Missouri Department of Social Services and The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and The Department of Mental Health.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Compassionate, mature, sympathetic and professional at all times.
  • Great organization and communication skills
  • Ability to read, write, understand and carry out directions.
  • The candidate must successfully complete any/all required preemployment background screenings
  • Candidate will have the physical ability to perform jobrelated duties, which may require lifting, standing bending, transferring, stooping, stretching, walking, pushing and pulling. At least 1 year of Personal Care experience. CNA Preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Personal care functions including:

  • Bathing (bed, tub, shower or sponge bath)
  • Skin Care
  • Toileting (bedpan, urinal, commode and/or toilet)
  • Grooming (shampoo, nail care & shaving)
  • Oral Hygiene (denture care)
  • Assist with dressing and undressing
  • Dietary
    * Self Administration of Medications
 

Mobility, transfers, positioning and repositioning

Meal preparation and assists with feeding

Demonstrates appropriate knowledge for safe use of medical equipment (cane, crutches, walkers, Hoyer Lift, side rails, brace, splints, oxygen).

Housekeeping tasks:

  • Laundry
  • Clean Bathroom, kitchen and living areas
  • Dishes
  • Iron/Mending
  • Make bed/change linens
  • Shopping/errands/correspondence
  • Maintains confidentiality in relation to all clients, family members, staff and documentation.
  • Meets bi-annual in-service requirements in accordance with Better Living Home and Services, LLC’s policies and state regulations
  • Maintains and enhances skill through attending appropriate staff development training
  • Appearance is professional and complies with Better Living Homes and Services, LLC’s dress code
  • Maintains a cooperative manner towards client/family and all members of the Better
  • Living Homes and Services, LLC’s team

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

  • Pay: $13.00 -Start FT $12.00 Start PT per hour.
